5 Tips to Create a Calm and Serene Master Bedroom Haven

It's not always easy to create a calming oasis in your home. Whether you're trying to get your creative juices flowing or simply looking for a place to relax after a long day at work, it can often be difficult to achieve both at once.

Creating Your Calm and Serene Master Bedroom Haven

So how do you create a master bedroom haven that feels both serene and welcoming? Here are our top 5 tips.

#1 Choose a Color Palette

The first thing you need to do is choose a color palette for your room and stick to it. The most important thing when picking out a color scheme is to choose colors you love, so be sure to spend some time looking at paint samples and fabrics until you find a combination that speaks to your aesthetic sensibilities.

Once you've settled on a theme, stick with it throughout the room by using similar shades, textures, and intensities of each hue in all the décor in your master bedroom haven. You can use different shades of one hue to pull together an elegant look or use different textures as accents throughout the space without clashing: silk curtains against crisp white sheets; velvet drapes framing walls painted deep blue; light gray carpeting underfoot while pale woods line the walls—the possibilities are endless.

#2 Declutter and Organize

Keep anything that doesn’t belong in the room elsewhere. As you begin to think about how you can create a calm and serene master bedroom haven, the first thing that comes to mind is probably cleaning out the closet. Make sure there's nothing else being stored in your master closet besides clothes and linens—you want this space to feel like an oasis from everything else going on around you, not just another place where stuff gets stored.

And while it’s important to have an organized closet, don’t clutter up the room with too many items by overfilling it with furniture or decorations either.

#3 Luxurious Sheets

The next step is to find a set of sheets that are soft, luxurious, and comfortable between your toes. Both cotton and bamboo sheets breathe well, which makes them cool for sleeping during our summer months.

When you purchase your sheets, make sure they have a high thread count. The higher the thread count, the more durable and long lasting they are. Soft sheets are also key to making your bedroom feel like your favorite place on earth—and not just because they offer you a soft place to lie down at night, but they are also easier on sensitive skin than rough blends.

#4 Less is More

You can use neutral colors like grey and white to tone down the energy of your bedroom and/or colors such as grey, blue, purple, or green bring a calming energy to the space. You can also use natural light to illuminate the room by opening up the curtains and consider adding window treatments in your bedroom that are bright and cheerful.

Keep things simple by keeping your bedspread as simple as possible while still being stylish; no need for elaborate patterns or designs. You may want to add a few statement pieces of furniture—a beautiful headboard, an elegant dresser, a large mirror, but limiting the focal points in the room (such as artwork) will allow for the space to feel cozy but not overcrowded.

#5 Large Throw Blankets

If you want to add comfort and warmth to your master bedroom, consider purchasing a large throw blanket for the end of your bed, which is an excellent way to keep your toes warm when reading or watching TV. Throw blankets come in many different sizes, shapes, and colors so finding one that matches the décor style of your master bedroom shouldn’t be difficult.

Creating Your Calm and Serene Master Bedroom

A master bedroom should be a place for you to relax and rejuvenate. Whether you want this space to be serene, beautiful or both, it is important that you love this room because you spend quite a bit of time here every day.
